A Letter from Trigg Dealey, Executive Director
To All Texas Olive Oil Council Members, Prospective Members, and the Citizens of the State of Texas
Once more our courageous olive growers have confirmed the potential of growing olives in Texas with the 2007 harvest of over 100 tons of olives! Prospects for the economic viability of this industry have never been better.
Olive verities adaptable to our state have begun to emerge and the strong Euro currency places us in an enviable position to compete and bargain for the US olive oil market, the largest in the world.
The Texas Olive Oil Council is committed to helping growers and the public learn about
the qualities and uses of olive oil and helping growers cultivate the
olive tree in Texas.
To this end the Council seeks to fulfill its mission set forth in the
founding articles in 1994 to inform, educate and engender the trust of the public through our Texas Extra Virgin Certification program, cultivation seminars, tastings and the
dissemination of information about our nascent industry.
I continue my wholehearted support for the TOOC and envision the Texas growers producing condiment quality extra virgin oil, containing all the nutritional, aromatic and taste components required to grade the Texas Extra Virgin Olive Oil as a world class product whose authenticity will be guaranteed by the council’s certification and will be met with confidence by consumers.
I currently remain, happily semi-retired enjoying the International Tennis Federation’s Senior Circuit, traveling to Europe, South America and California to participate in select ITF tennis events. Today I write to you from Buenos Aires, Argentina where I am playing in South America’s largest veteran’s tennis tournament. Last year I made the final in doubles and I am very keen on a good showing this year. If I suffer an early loss I will work on my Tango!
I hope to see old friends and meet new ones at the Council’s upcoming meeting.
Best regards,
Trigg Dealey
